In the last few years, Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry has become a very powerful tool in the analysis of synthetic polymers. Many classes of polymers have been analyzed with different points of interest. The quality of mass spectra in the oligomeric mass range up to 10,000 Da has been significantly improved by the Pulsed Ion Extraction method. This technique provides isotopic resolution of the different oligomer peaks. Moreover, the experience in preparation of polymer samples is still growing. |
