Field Service Engineer in the medical device field

to work in our Midwest and South (Houston, TX) regions. 

As a Field Service Engineer for Bruker Daltonics, you will install and support high technology equipment in clinical environment and research labs from pharmaceutical companies, universities and government research labs.   You will work with highly complex equipment which requires a basic understanding of the physics of the instruments serviced as well as the microbiology application.  

 

The Field Service Engineer will:

  • work closely with the TPS of the instrument to be up-to-date on the new technologies, changes and any kind of updates including potential issues
  • perform installs as well as preventative maintenance on MALDI BioTyper systems at customer sites. Installations involve setting up instruments, meeting factory specifications, running complex organic and biochemical compounds of performance verification
  • help on MALDI BioTyper phone support whenever not assigned to a call, but conducting remote diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • be prepared to respond and travel on a 24 hour notice to provide on-site support to customer in the continent of US
  • participate and comply with all quality system requirements
  • submit monthly reports on issues, escalation and changes as well as the steps taken for its resolution of the MALDI BioTyper product line
  • familiarize/train customers for basic operation of the equipment
  • perform troubleshooting which involves operating instrument via remote diagnostic software; independently determine whether an onsite visit is required
  • re-qualify the entire instrument after service repair by running complex compounds for verification
  • attend in depth product training (3-4) on new and updated Bruker products in German factory by product experts.   


The ideal candidate will have a
B.S. in electrical engineering, electronics, biotech or chemistry related fields or equivalent experience.

Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical and/or electronic equipment on mass spectrometer/analytical instrumentation is required.

 

Additional qualifications include:

working knowledge of MS Office products; excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner; a general understanding of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology, chromatography separation techniques, and ultra high vacuum.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsive and reliable and possess the ability to:  interact and communicate with scientists who typically possess a Ph.D. (or Master’s Degree) in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Microbiology; ability to work independently yet has a team focus. 

 

Ability and willingness to travel as over 90% travel required. Must maintain valid travel documents, including a valid driver’s license.
