Field Service Representatives

 

for our Chemical and Applied Markets Division in the West (either Los Angeles, CA or Fremont, CA) and Southeast Regions (Atlanta, GA) of the U.S.

Field Service Representatives install and support high technology equipment in research, production, quality control, industrial and environmental laboratories; work with highly complex equipment which requires a basic understanding of the physics and electronics of the instruments serviced.  

The Field Service Representative will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:  

  • Installs and services instruments including but not limited to GC, GCMS and ICPMS.   
  • Familiarize/train customers for basic operation of the equipment.    ·         Re-qualify the entire instrument after service and repair by running complex compounds for verification.  
  • Secure customer’s acceptance of install and sign-off on repair.  
  • Performs preventative maintenance  
  • Manage assigned geography independently: includes returning customer initial contact calls within 4-6 hours of receipt, diagnose instrument via remote diagnostic software, provide telephone technical support, independently determine whether an onsite visit is required, manage schedule independently with 2-4 day target onsite arrival, work with Lead FSR in times of high demand, order repair parts and maintain an accurate inventory updated weekly.  
  • Attends in depth product training at manufacturing facilities  
  • Communicates/works closely with service/support center, Lead Field Service Representatives, Service Contract Sales Representatives, local instrument Sales Representatives and assist in other areas as workload requires  

The ideal candidates will have a BA/BS in a scientific field with 2 years’ hands on experience with scientific instrumentation or equivalent work experience without a degree.   Additional requirements include:  

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical and/or electronic equipment is required as is a general understanding of electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, chromatography separation techniques.  
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products and nnderstanding of networking important.  
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner is essential.  
  • Strong organization and prioritizing skills necessary with the ability to work independently yet have a team focus.  
  • Must be able and willing to travel is required; requires a valid driver’s license and travel documents.
