Compass

• Compass offers a unified look and feel for instrument control and data processing. Compass provides tools to aid both the novice and expert user to acquire and process datasets and interpret results efficiently on all Bruker Daltonics systems. Compass is available on  all Bruker MALDI and LC/MS instruments.  All major HPLCs are supported in the Compass environment.

Additional modular upgrades can provide expanded capabilities such as:

• Advanced data interpretation uses additional chemo-/bioinformatics modules, depending on the applications requirements for qualitative and quantitative analysi
• SmartFormula and SmartFormula 3D are sophisticated modules for sum formula generation of small molecules. They are taking into account the exact mass and the isotopic pattern distribution of a compound. Smart combination of this information dramatically limits the number of possible candidates when elucidating molecular formulae. SmartFormula 3D even takes a step forward: It also makes use of the exact mass and isotopic patterns of compound fragment ions. Hence, in most cases SmartFormula 3D formula elucidation results in no more than one single proposed formula.
• CompoundCrawler, delivered with DataAnalsis 4.0, adds a further dimension to compound identification: Results from SmartFormula can easily be submitted to various compound databases. Currently supported databases are Metlin and ChemSpider. After import of the results of database searches to DataAnalysis, comprehensive information is at your fingertips for further evaluation including the visualization of compound structures.
• Spectral library searching allows for simple and reliable identification based on MS and MS/MS spectra at both polarities from all Bruker ESI-MS/MS mass spectrometers.  DataAnalysis library search fully supports NIST spectral libraries and user defined libraries.
• Deconvolution of multiple charged ions for analysis of biomolecules, such as proteins and, peptides and oligonucleotides. The well established MaxEnt deconvolution algorithm is available as an option.

• Walk-up operation for every lab user whatever their knowledge or experience with Compass OpenAccess.

• A CompassSecurityPack which provides all data acquisition and processing modules  necessary to work in compliance with FDA and EU regulations and requirements (21CFR, Part 11/Annex 11).
